Don't Harvest Flowers, Quote by Jason Logan, 2019
This wood block print was completed by laser etching the image into wood and then inking and rolling through the press. I gathered bits of plant material from around the Corner Brook campus in the early spring. After the image was on paper, I added the found plant material to the print and ran it through the press again to squeeze out any colour and texture from the plants onto paper.

I also tried the wood block print on some found fabric that I dyed with onion skins.

The words used in the print were found in Jason Logan's book Make Ink: A Forager’s Guide to Natural Inkmaking. A really beautiful book that explores natural ink making using found material around the streets of Toronto. Jason seems like a very cool person and I recommend the book and having a look around his website.

This quote really hit in the midst of finishing my last year of a fine arts degree, discovering the magic world of natural colour making, falling in love with a human like I never had before, and definitely drinking too much and leaning into the weird and silly moments of 23 year old life.
