Woman of the Garden, 2017

This is a wooden sculpture, inspired by my fear and curiosity of spiders. They are badass. This was my first wooden work made while in art school and I had a lot of fun learning how to work with wood and power tools. Shout out to David for all his help with problem solving this one.

I did have a video that went along with this piece, it was video of me trying to build my own web in the trees using wool. The web itself was of course a failure, as I am not nearly as good at web building as a spider nor am equipped with proper web building materials. But it was an oddly fun meditative experience and a good test putting myself in front of a camera out in the world, doing something I knew I would fail at.
